Cognitive Linguistics in the Year 2024 Katowice, 18-20 September 2024
Institute of Linguistics, Faculty of Humanities,
University of Silesia in Katowice
the Polish Cognitive Linguistics Association
The main theme:
Motivation in language
Motivation in language, seen as the influence of a whole range of factors on any dimension of the linguistic unit, is one of the important research areas explored within the cognitivelinguistics enterprise. It can be traced at all levels of linguistic organisation, and characterised
from all kinds of cognitive perspectives: socio-cultural, embodied, communicative, historical, experiential, psychological, or any other. Hence we encourage submissions from scholars whoexamine any facet of this issue.
Besides motivation in language, we also invite scholars who explore any other topic in the area of cognitive linguistics and want to share the results of their recent studies.
To submit an abstract, please register online at:
https://formularze.us.edu.pl/form/index/4460 between January 1, 2024 and April 14, 2024.
Abstracts should be of no more than 300 words in length, references included (plus 3-4 keywords). They should indicate the scope and aims of your research, its methodology and, possibly, the results. Please do not include your name and affiliation in the abstract. If you need to refer to yourself, please use “AUTHOR” instead of your name. If you want to submit an abstract for a particular theme session, please include this information at the top of the abstract, e.g. ABSTRACT FOR THE THEME SESSION “TITLE OF SESSION”.
You are welcome to organize your own theme session within the conference. The procedure is as follows:

– You will be notified of the acceptance/rejection of the session by January 31, 2024. If accepted, you can start inviting scholars to participate in your session and to send their abstracts to the conference.
